12.02.2026 Its hard to believe it has been a whole month since I posted an update on here, it has been a busy period clearing up ready for spring and strart of the new caravan season. It has also been a quiet period on the fishing front as January normally is. That said those who have ventured out have been catching readily, silvers of very good quality are been caught as are the smaller carp and some lovely perch. It is always nice when new anglers arrive for the first time and are impressed and compliment us on the quality of the fish. As I mentioned the two lads from London just before Christmas were delighted with the quality of the carp. Last weekend it was another two guys from London who were delighted with the quality of the roach and perch in the top lake. The pictures below were from a couple of regular anglers. A perch and a small carp, both were caught on the same method. A method feeder out in deep water with a brightly coloured pellet buried within the feeder which did the trick on this occasion.

11.01.2026 It is interesting to see that during the last couple of days the weather has hit a barmy 10% C and the carp are back looking for feed. That is not to say that if we have another dip in temperature , as surely we will before the end of winter, they will not head off into deep water again. In the mean time this is the inl to the latest video of the kingfisher and a couple of still photographs lifted from the videos along with some clever editing to sharpen the focus. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17pKnoFnQY/CaptionCaption
08.01.2026 With a little bit of effort, AJJ film managed to get this unedited film. One of our friendly Kingfishers that dart about the lake. This was on the top lake a couple of days ago. As I often say Angling is not all about the fishing. To see the video please follow the link to our face book page. We do have many more short videos of this king fisher that I may add at a later date. Nothing to add since my last post on the angling front, as we expect January is the quiet time of the year. Possibly a good time to check and replenish your tackle boxes. Might also be worth visiting and supporting your local tackle shops and see if there is a January sale on.
The Christmas period was productive for those who ventured out for a days angling. The two lads who were visiting the area certainly enjoyed their day at the fishery as in total they caught over 20 carp between them. They used a variety of methods but given the week previously was very cold as was the day they visited, they kept the baits down to no more that 10mm. Also lighter tackle helps and although they caught some closer to the banks most were taken from the deeper water. Silver fish and perch are also been caught readily but again I would advise using smaller baits and maggots. We look forward to seeing you all again soon
