🌿 Pembrokeshire Coarse Fishery – Early Spring Update
With Easter arriving early this year — and the forecast looking a bit mixed — here’s something to lift the spirits. Nature is already shifting gears. Birds are in full song, bees are buzzing around, early spring flowers are showing, and the first leaves are breaking through on the trees. The whole place is waking up fast.
🎣 On the Fishing Front
There’s been plenty of action on the bank recently.
Phil, one of our regular anglers, has had two very different sessions:
Last week:
Targeting perch with prawns
Landed lots of them, with some pushing the 2lb mark
A brilliant day for perch fishing
Yesterday:
Same weather, same method, same bait
Only one small perch this time
BUT he had a cracking mixed bag of roach and rudd, including some real specimens in top condition
And to top it off, he slipped the net under a beautiful tench
🌼 Takeaway
Spring is changing things quickly — fish behaviour included — and even when your target species don’t play ball, there’s some fantastic variety and quality showing across the lakes right now.

Nice to have feed back from happy customers. Trish send me an email with this message after her recent visit.
"WOW what a fantastic day 26 fish in total, 20 carp 6 roach mostly on method, they were on top, bottom, 3ft down on float."
Trish also sent me the pictures of the carp feeding off the top during one of the sunny days we had recently. It is nice to see how quickly the carp will start to come to the top of the water after a few hours of a warn sunshine.
I also added a picture of the rig we recently found tangled on a crap. Please take note and read our rule section on our web site where it states that we do not allow barbed hooks or braid straight through to the hook. If you do find yourselves short of barbless hooks please just ask and we can provide you with some.

At last, judging by the images of the early flowers below, Spring has sprung! Yes, it is that time of year again where you start to think about going out fishing. It may be an ideal time to dust off the tackle bag and check for any replacement bits and pieces you need.
The fishing has been good with all species being caught over the last few weeks. The carp caught recently are all in excellent condition after the winter. Best catch recently is by a regular angler, Frankie, who had a great start start to his day ,landing had two double figure common carp. I cannot be sure if they were caught using the same method but when I was chatting to him he was using a feeder rod about a couple of rod lengths out.
The two London anglers who are working in the area came to visit again this time amongst other silvers they also they caught several top quality perch from the far end of the top lake.

Its hard to believe it has been a whole month since I posted an update on here, it has been a busy period clearing up ready for spring and strart of the new caravan season.
It has also been a quiet period on the fishing front as January normally is. That said those who have ventured out have been catching readily, silvers of very good quality are been caught as are the smaller carp and some lovely perch. It is always nice when new anglers arrive for the first time and are impressed and compliment us on the quality of the fish. As I mentioned the two lads from London just before Christmas were delighted with the quality of the carp. Last weekend it was another two guys from London who were delighted with the quality of the roach and perch in the top lake. The pictures below were from a couple of regular anglers. A perch and a small carp, both were caught on the same method. A method feeder out in deep water with a brightly coloured pellet buried within the feeder which did the trick on this occasion.

It is interesting to see that during the last couple of days the weather has hit a barmy 10% C and the carp are back looking for feed. That is not to say that if we have another dip in temperature , as surely we will before the end of winter, they will not head off into deep water again.
In the mean time this is the inl to the latest video of the kingfisher and a couple of still photographs lifted from the videos along with some clever editing to sharpen the focus.

With a little bit of effort, AJJ film managed to get this unedited film. One of our friendly Kingfishers that dart about the lake. This was on the top lake a couple of days ago. As I often say Angling is not all about the fishing.
To see the video please follow the link to our face book page. We do have many more short videos of this king fisher that I may add at a later date.
Nothing to add since my last post on the angling front, as we expect January is the quiet time of the year. Possibly a good time to check and replenish your tackle boxes. Might also be worth visiting and supporting your local tackle shops and see if there is a January sale on.
